Job Title: Driver/ Logistician
Reports To: Operations/ Liaison Officer
Duty Station: Accra with missions to other Regions
Contract Duration: 12 months
JOB SUMMARY
The Organization requires the services of outsourced auxiliary staff, in particular for the position referred to above to provide safe, timely, and reliable transportation of staff, goods, and documents while maintaining the assigned vehicle in excellent condition.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate is requested to work under the supervision of the Liaison Officer, showing excellent communication skills, total reliability, punctuality and ability to learn detailed procedures and adhere to them.A
a. Driving company’s vehicle for the transportation of authorised personnel and the delivery/collection of mail, documents, cargo, pouches and other items.
b. Ensuring vehicle is kept secure, clean, tidy and in good working condition at all times.
c. Ensuring vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.
d. Ensuring vehicle repairs are carried out properly by official manufacturers specification.
e. Preparing and submitting vehicle monitoring report, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, mileage/logbook, at the end of each month.
f. Assisting the Liaison Officer to ensure vehicle insurance and registration is updated according to schedule.
g. Logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, etc.
h. Ensuring that the office electrical generator is maintained in a secure, clean, orderly, and fully operational condition at all times.
i. Assisting the Liaison Officer in the office management with particular focus on the respect of logistics and procurement procedures and documentation.
j. Providing logistics reports and planning for the correct and efficient functioning of the office.
k. Ensuring adequate and regular contacts with National and Local authorities regarding logistics and
procurement procedures verification or information (eg: custom rules and exemptions, MoFA rules for human resources, vehicles rules, equipment rules, contracting rules for goods and services…).
l. Carrying out any other task on Liaison Officer request, compatibly with professional capacities.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
a. At least 3 years of experience as driver
b. Good English, written and spoken
c. Valid driving licence
d. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies and local road and conditions, and defensive driving skills
e. Skills in minor vehicle repairs
f. Completion of secondary education
PREFERENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
a. Previous experience working in the field of development with INGOs, UN agencies or Cooperation agencies
b. Logistics and procurement working experience
c. Italian language communication
