Our client, an international clearing and forwarding company which provides total logistic solutions for a variety of industries in Ghana is recruiting dedicated and hardworking individuals to fill the position of a Transport Supervisor.

Role Purpose:
This role involves planning, coordinating, and managing transportation operations to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. The Transport Manager will also be responsible for managing drivers, mechanics, electricians, drivers’ assistants and the maintenance of vehicles. Additionally perform other related Transport administration duties to ensure all vehicles within the company have meet the annual/ biannual regulatory standards (DVLA, insurance, STMA and other vehicle regulatory requirements).
Core Responsibilities:
Quality, Safety, Health & Environment (QSHE) and ISO Standards
• Participate in all Quality, Safety, Health & Environment (QSHE) programmes, audits, identification of workplace hazards including Greenline Green Walk activities towards the attainment of zero injury work environment.
• Participate in all Department/Corporate ISO programmes to ensure effective implementation of Greenline Logistics’ Quality Management System (QMS).
• Implement approved Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Plan(s) and other support systems for the Transport Section to ensure attainment of targeted objectives.
Transportation Planning and Coordination
• Plan and supervise the daily work schedules of the, Drivers, Auto Mechanics, Auto Electrician, Drivers Assistants in consultation with the Executive Director and coordinate resources to ensure attainment of targeted objectives of the Transport unit.
• Monitor the operations of the Warehouse Officer, Drivers, Auto Mechanics Auto Electrician and Drivers’ Assistants to ensure compliance with approved policies/procedures including safety regulations with respect to operations and maintenance of vehicles.
• Follow approved route and schedule for delivery and pick-ups of goods to and from the Warehouse Coordinate with operations manager, warehouse, forklift, and customer service teams to ensure seamless operations.
Fleet Management
• Coordinate and respond to vehicle requests from customers/clients (with the approval of operations manager) and monitor the movement of all vehicles in line with approved policy guidelines.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles to ensure a reliable and efficient fleet.
• Monitor and supervise to ensure that vehicles for transporting explosives/dangerous cargo meet regulation standards and are maintained/serviced in good condition prior to transportation of cargoes.
• Check and sign-off daily vehicle operational checklist system and monitor to ensure that all vehicles are in serviceable/motorable condition and maintained for operations.
• Schedule vehicles that are faulty and/or due for maintenance to designated garages for repairs/maintenance.
• Monitor/Review all logging activities on Greenline Logistics’ vehicles and report on non-compliance of operating standards and regulations for the attention of the Operations Manager/Executive Director.
• Maintain records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
Staff Management
• Train, and manage transport staff, including drivers and support personnel.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and training to improve staff performance.
• Ensure all transport staff adhere to company policies and safety standards.
Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws and regulations.
• Maintain/update inventory of GLL vehicles and monitor to ensure that Roadworthy, Insurance as well as Port Authorization Pass renewals are done timely and in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of driver hours, vehicle inspections, and other regulatory requirements.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks and accidents.
Cost Management
• Monitor and manage transportation budgets and expenses.
• Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.
Customer Service
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to customers.
• Establish/maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders (internal & external) to facilitate effective business operations.
• Address, resolve or escalate ALL any transportation-related incidents or customer complaints, along with completing an incident report.
• Investigate accidents involving GLL and other third-party vehicles as directed.
Information & Reporting
• Issue Waybills and other relevant documentation to Drivers for the delivery of goods/cargo to clients/customers destination offices and update records as appropriate.
• Maintain and update records/database on the Company’s vehicles; ensuring that all records/documentation are properly filed and maintained.
• Prepare Activity Report on operations of vehicles i.e. number of cargo trips undertaken, mileage covered, destination, etc.
• Prepare daily/weekly Activity Report on operations of Transport Section and/or any other report(s) related to job function.
Employee Performance & Development
• Establish and review KPI targets of direct reports in consultation with Operations Manager/Executive Director, coach, motivate/challenge transport team to perform optimally and hold them accountable to ensure the Section’s goals are achieved.
• Provide input and facilitate training/development of direct reports in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Analyse transportation data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Technology and Systems
• Utilize transportation management systems (SKYFMS) to enhance operational efficiency.
• Report on vehicle positioning every 12hrs.
Competencies Requirements:
• Complete knowledge of Fleet/Transport operations, rules, regulations, and other regulatory requirements.
• Excellent understanding of DVLA, Insurance, Road Safety and other regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software.

Job Specification: Qualification/ Experience
• Minimum of 1 st Degree in Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management or related discipline.
• At least HND in Mechanical Engineering
• A professional certification in Logistics and Transport management from a recognized institution and knowledge of Health and Safety will be an advantage
• A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in a related role.
