Beyond Strategy: Why the Real Competitive Edge Is Human
At The Capital Group Limited, we believe that no strategy, however brilliant, executes itself. It takes people. It takes culture. It takes alignment at every level of an organization. That belief was at the heart of “Beyond Strategy: The Human Drivers of Organizational Performance,” an exclusive executive conversation we co-hosted on Tuesday, 11th August 2026, at La Villa Boutique Hotel, Osu, Accra.
We were proud to welcome senior business leaders, HR executives, and decision makers for an evening that combined honest, high-level conversation with genuine connection. It was a candid discussion on leadership followed by a networking cocktail, and the ideas raised in the room continued well after the formal programme ended.

The Question We Wanted Leaders to Sit With
Strategy documents are easy to write. Getting an entire organization to move in the same direction, with the same energy and conviction, is the hard part. That gap, between what is planned on paper and what actually gets executed, was the through line of the evening.
Our guests explored how leadership, culture, executive alignment, and talent shape three things every business ultimately depends on:
- Strategy execution: turning plans into consistent, daily action
- Competitive advantage: what makes an organization genuinely hard to replicate
- Sustainable business growth: building performance that lasts beyond a single quarter
The conversation challenged a familiar assumption in business circles, that performance is primarily a function of strategy, structure, or systems. Instead, we made the case, alongside our partners, that the real differentiator is human. It is how leaders show up, how culture is lived and not just written down, and how aligned an executive team truly is when the pressure is on.

A Room We Built for Real Conversation
True to its billing as an executive conversation rather than a conventional conference, we designed the evening for depth over volume. It was an intimate, invite only gathering, exclusive to Premium Members of the Ghana Netherlands Business & Culture Council (GNBCC) and invited guests of Management Drives, The Capital Group Limited, and PeopleSource Consulting. This meant the room was filled with people who could speak candidly about the real challenges of leading organizations in Ghana today.
We were especially honored to welcome Stephan Van der Vat, owner of Management Drives Netherlands, Bode Olutumbi of Management Drives Global Partner-Africa, and Kemi Olutumbi of Management Drives Global Partner-United Kingdom, who all joined us in person and shared valuable insight during the conference, alongside our own CEO, Samuel Leslie Adetola of The Capital Group Limited. Their presence brought a firsthand, global perspective on the human drivers of performance, straight from the source behind the Management Drives methodology.
The networking cocktail that followed the discussion was not an afterthought. It was where much of the real value happened. Over drinks, our guests continued unpacking the evening’s ideas, shared experiences from their own organizations, and built relationships that we expect will outlast this single event.

Our Partners in This Conversation
“Beyond Strategy” would not have been possible without the collaboration of three partner organizations who joined us in bringing this evening to life.
Management Drives was our main partner for the evening and brought the global framework and philosophy at the heart of the conversation, research backed lens on what actually drives human motivation and performance inside organizations. The presence of Stephan Van der Vat, owner of Management Drives Netherlands, together with Bode Olutumbi of Management Drives (Global Partner-Africa) and Kemi Olutumbi of Management Drives (Global Partner-United Kingdom), underscored just how invested Management Drives is in bringing this thinking to Ghana and the wider African market.
PeopleSource Consulting, owned by Bode and Kemi Olutumbi and serving as Africa Master Partner for Management Drives, helped bridge that global framework with on the ground execution across the continent.
The Ghana Netherlands Business & Culture Council (GNBCC) convened the room for us, bringing together its network of premium members and business leaders committed to strengthening Ghana’s corporate landscape.
At The Capital Group Limited, this is exactly the kind of partnership we believe in. Our own philosophy, the Power of Partnership, is built on the idea that the biggest breakthroughs happen when the right people, aligned around a shared purpose, come together in the same room. This evening was a clear demonstration of that belief in action.
If your organization is grappling with the gap between strategy and execution, we invite you to stay close to this conversation with us.
