Before we get started on the topic of COVID-19, I want us to take a look at how a virus behaves so that we are not carried away by the strange rumors people are spreading around on how you can get the virus and contract the disease. First of all, a virus is a small infectious agent that replicates inside the living cells of an organism.

Some viruses are very deadly like the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) while others though deadly eventually can be combatted if the Immune System is very strong like COVID-19. Though this is the case what makes the Corona Virus so dangerous to humans is because it is a “novel” meaning it is new to humans, so we do not have any way to fight it but to take basic precautionary measures. Once a person is infected with a virus, their body becomes a reservoir of virus particles which can be released in bodily fluids such as coughing and sneezing or by shedding skin or in some cases even touching surfaces. The virus particles may then end up on a new potential host or an inanimate object. These contaminated objects are known as fomites, and can play an important role in the spread of disease.
